Food is precious – nevertheless, considerable quantities of bread, vegetables, meat and sausage products, dairy products and much more are simply discarded every day. Food waste accumulates along the entire value chain, but could actually be prevented.
Reflecting our commitment to sustainability, we take active measures at Ölz Meisterbäcker to prevent food waste. We deliberately engage in green initiatives, not only to minimise waste but also to contribute actively to protecting our environment and preserving resources. It is our intention to contribute tangibly to reducing food waste by supporting various activities and campaigns.
Over one third of all food produced worldwide goes to waste. In the EU, around 10% of food waste results from a misunderstanding of best before dates. As one of the first Austrian food producers, we at Ölz Meisterbäcker also support the initiative Often good for longer.
